Volcán Santa Maria
This is a one-day hike that leaves at 6 a.m.
with our experienced guide and returns in the
late afternoon. From the top on a clear day
there is an AMAZING view not only of
Quetzaltenango but the active Santiaguito
(shown in the photo) also.

of San Andres Xecúl. See the church, learn

Coffee Farm
and Beach excursion
This Saturday excursion not only visits a
coffee farm where you see the entire process
of growing, harvesting, washing and drying
coffee in preparation for export. You also
spend the afternoon at the beach, relaxing and

Laguna
Chicabal
National Park
and Mayan Religious Site
Climb to top of Laguna Chicabal and see the
beauty of this crater where Mayan priests
perform religious ceremonies. It is considered
a sacred place for the Mayan religion and is
also a protected park.

Momostenango
Visit to a family of artisans to observe and
learn about the process of making a typical
wool blanket or carpet from the sheep to the
final step. This special family has a
wonderful story to share and enjoy have
students visit their home.

Visit to the
ICAMIGOS Bilingual school in Cabricán
Visit to the Village of Cabricán where
habitants speak Spanish and Mam. We will
observe a model class and talk to students and
parents. The NGO ICAmigos has worked in
Cabricán for more than ten years and Spanish
student tuition has helped support teacher
salaries and scholarships.

Excursion to
Panajachel, Lago Atitlán and Chichicastenango
This weekend trip goes to Pana
and Chichi with a teacher as the guide and all
the fun of chicken buses, a boat trip, great
food and an amazing market.
COSTS: Guide is included and each student pays
their own bus fare, food and hotel costs. You
can choose to travel cheaply or with a little
luxury. We help in booking the hotel and
planning the two day trip. |
